CSL logo in the right color space

3D MODELING & ANIMATION

Converting the 2D shapes of the logo to a 3D version and spinning it was the easy part. 

COMPOSITING

The CSL Immobilien logo was designed for print applications. My task was to animate the the vector-based logo in a way that its colors exactly resemble the printed version (subtractive color overlays). The RGB-based colors of a 3D rendered cube was not producing the same result. In CMYK color space, blending two colors, always results in a darker tone. In 3D rendering on the other hand, the colors of semi-transparent surfaces accululate as RGB colors. This always brightens the mix. As a consequence, I had to render the shards individually and compose them in Shake using a blend mode that mimics the appearance of overprinted CMYK colors.
