Cover design for the textbook Analysis

ASSIGMENT

I was comissioned to design the cover of  the textbook Analysis. Based on the given equation, I did a 3d surface plot in Wolfram Mathematica which I processed and rendered in Autodesk Maya. The colors were graded in Photoshop. Luckily I was not involved in the proofreading.

The monkey saddle is a surface defined by the equation z = x³ – 3xy². As the name implies – the surface belongs to the class of saddle surfaces!  The name derives from the observation that a saddle used by a monkey would require two depressions for its legs and one for its tail. (Wikipedia)
