OCB

The Oratorio Choir Bern – ocb for short – has been dedicated to choral singing in all its facets for more than 160 years, preserving the tradition of classical music while also being open to contemporary choral music. The ocb performs two different concerts annually, combining sacred and secular choral literature from all eras.

VISUALIZING MUSIC

Designing concert posters has always been one of my favorite activity as a graphic designer. The visuals below have been designed over the last twenty years. While I primarely draw inspiration from the music, the composer's life, and the subject of the choral works always opens up a wide range of possibilities. Translating one particular aspect into a memorarable visual is always a challenge as a poster has to reach the audience in a second. I envy musicians as they seem to have more time and a broader chromatic pallette to work with.

The imagery of my concert visuals are as diverse as the music. Experimentation with a wide range of tools and methods helps me to find appropriate ideas. Often, I combine manual and digital workflows as they tend to complement one another.
